I believe this to be a between centres dividing unit for the likes of a clockmaker or watchmaker. It is certainly a high quality item.
There are 3 centres and a stepped cone that can sit on a vertical side post and slide along the side round bar.
The base is just under 7.5" and 1.5" wide. The dividing plate has a diameter of approx 3.5" and has a very nicely soft knurled edge.
      The Dividing plate has 120 holes. They are numbered every 5 and also (very usefuly) every 12. Having 200 gives dividing/indexing multiples of 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 10, 12 15, 20, 24, etc......
The base also has a central hole so that it can be fixed and rotated on another device if required.
All in all a lovely and versatile item built to a high quality.

Please let me know if you know more about this item or can identify it's make etc. Thanks.
