Large Launch twin marine live steam engine for sale. This should power a full size small launch.
With reversing and comprehensive oiling system. It's a 2" stroke and we believe the cylinders are also 2" diameter (could be 2 1/4"). Dimensions are approx: 50cm tall & 55cm x 49cm, with the 49cm being along the crank side. The valve chests are 3" x 3.5". There is a 9" flywheel but only added to help turn the engine over.
The engine is mainly complete but does need finishing, however this is mainly the oiling fittings and the setting up of the drive rod etc. We were told this is a new build and was built as a replacement for a worn engine. Do allow for some commissioning work, there will be the odd job to do. We have not run this engine or tried to. It does look well built and quite a lot of effort has gone into the oiling system. The reversing lever and reversing action is very smooth and solid. The engine turns over well. Might need a period of running in.
This should be a powerful engine, similar to the Stuart Swan. I can just about lift it myself, but it's an easy two person lift. The last two photos show a standard size food can for a visual scale guide. The can is not included in the sale, but can be !!!
It's an engine that is probably worth significantly more based on the work that has gone into this impressive and sizable engine. A desireable engine and likely self starting being a twin.
